I have quite a few ideas and plans to improve some things within the business and our work flow to serve our clients better. We are also offering more by way of albums - different styles and a lot more sizes. I’ll be posting more about that soon so check back. We are still full steam ahead with bookings for 2009 and are looking to fill in some more calendar dates. We’d love to meet with you if you are still looking for a photographer but contact us soon! We only take 2-3 weddings a month.

December was pretty busy for us, we had our final wedding of 2008 on the 20th which we’ll be blogging about soon. I also did my first boudoir/’girl with her car session’ for my sister. She and her husband had their 1 year anniversary and the final Art Book we created from the session was a wonderful gift for him - he was so surprised we pulled it off without him knowing. Here are just a few of my favorite images from the session we did with her and her Nissan Z. So hot!

In the midst of all the busyness though we get to hang out with great people, like Amy and Rodney. I was trying to remember how long I have known Amy and I think it’s been something like 5 or 6 years, maybe more. She asked me to shoot her wedding long before Vignette Photography was ever thought of, I don’t think James and I were even married yet. Anyway, I was more than happy to say yes and honored she asked me.

We arrived at Amy’s home for some pre-wedding shots. She was very relaxed and that didn’t change even when she realized they were behind schedule. It didn’t matter though - the day went off without a hitch!

Amy & Rodney were marred at Barr Mansion here in Austin. It’s a beautiful location! James and I really enjoyed shooting there and the team at Barr Mansion did a fabulous job of decorating and coordinating.

This was another requested photo by Amy. Group shots on the lawn of Barr Mansion are popular - we just had to make it work after the sun had set. James did a great job setting this up and capturing it.

Amy did a fabulous job with all the details- right down to the cutest pumpkin place card holders. I loved her autumn theme and colors.

It makes me so happy to see Amy and Rodney together. You can see the love they have for each other by their actions and words and even in their glances. I am so glad we were able to be a part of their wedding day and not just as their photographers but also as their friends.

As I went back through Erin and Tim’s photos to pick out the ones I wanted to show you, dear readers, I remembered how much laughter there was at this wedding. Both Erin and Tim have a wonderful humor, and Erin’s whole side of the family seemed to know how to laugh and have a good time. Such fun.

I haven’t seen dancing at a wedding like that in a long time! So fun! Everyone was on the dance floor at one point or another during the reception.

Erin’s grandparents came down from Indiana. The were the sweetest pair. Grandma loved to laugh. I think everyone in the family learned to laugh from her :)

What is a wedding without silly faces?

Thank you again, Erin and Tim! We had a blast hanging out with you guys and your family! You got married in one of the most scenic spots in Austin, and as photographers, we appreciate it! Haha!

And to all of our readers, Happy Thanksgiving! Elizabeth and I are going to take a few days of R&R off this week/weekend. We wish you all a wonderful time with friends and family this Thanksgiving!

Mandy, a good friend of ours, organized a “Giving With Style” fashion show and cocktail reception on the Palm Terrace of The Belmont in downtown Austin. Winstead Attorneys sponsored the event as a part of their ‘giving back to the community’ initiative, and this event sponsored the Dress For Success organization that helps disadvantaged women get professional attire and job skills so they can get back into the workforce. Such a cool cause. Anyway, when Mandy asked us if we’d donate an hour or two to the cause, we jumped on it. We ended up having a great time and got some swell fashion tips from the head of personal shoppers at Nordstrom’s. Here are a few:

• Green and grey are the totally hot colors of this winter season.
• The fashion-focus this season will be ‘detail around the neck’. Draw attention to your faces, ladies.
• High heels apparently go with everything again.

Oh, did I mention that I was the only guy there? There were a ton of women, and Liz fit right in, but I sure as heck stuck out. The best moment was when I was right down front taking photos of the directors giving intro speeches, and one of them made a huge deal about how this was a ‘womens-only’ event. Yeah, I blushed and moved as unsuspiciously as possible to the back :)

Despite the embarrassment of being the only dude there, I had a great time and was so glad to be able to use my skills to give back to the community. You can read more about the event here if you’d like, but here are some photos from the event…

It’s kinda hard to tell what this one is, but it’s a reflection of a person in a makeup (compact?) mirror that was sitting on the Nordstrom’s table. I thought it was cool.

Clutches will be hot this season too apparently. Huge clutches, that is.

Sooo many clothes were donated that night! They ended up not having enough coat racks to hang everything on!

Oh, and HUGE purses with sharp metal corners are also in.
