It was also hosted by Finn & Porter who provided some amazing appetizers for the event. Just a couple months ago Joe from Finn & Porter contacted me asking if I’d be willing to photograph some more food for them. Of course, I jumped at the opportunity because shooting food is a secret passion.

I wanted to share a few images I took but only ones I know Finn & Porter has already made public. I hope these will make you want to try out Finn & Porter for yourself – I know I am looking forward to my next opportunity to dine with them.

Steamed Chilean Sea Bass (my favorite!) with scallions, shitake mushrooms, fresh ginger and cilantro, snow peas and a soy broth.

Smoked Hamachi in a melon cube, micro greens, crisp prosciutto and a red chili oil.

Local and free range, pan seared chicken.

Porterhouse steak topped with fried onion and bell pepper rings.

Beef Carpaccio with fried shallots, parmesan cheese, capers, arugula salad and truffle aioli.

And finally some amazingly delicate and beautiful sushi.

It was for the Edible Austin’s 3rd Annual Eat Local Week. The Hilton downtown and Finn & Porter co-hosted along with Lori. I think I was more excited about shooting the food than I was eating it – but I did both!

Not only was everything good to look at it was also delicious.

It was a great evening spent with some wonderful people. I was very excited to meet Beth and Leah for the first time too! Hi ladies!

Ok, back to photos…I know a few people have been anxious to see the Photo Booth pictures. It was a sort of debut/test for us since we were considering adding it to the list of services from VP. It’s definitely going on our list of services now! What a blast! I had fun watching people get dressed up and be goofy.

I am so happy for Claire, Chance and the folks at Obee’s for the great turnout they had. The food was amazing! Oh my goodness, best hummus I have ever had! If you haven’t been to Obee’s yet you’re missing out and need to go!

There were also two amazing musicians providing some tunes for the evening- Jason Poe of Jets Under Fire and Lex Land. Both worth checking out.

Our photo booth had a trial debut/run that was great. I am very excited to see all the photos. The ones I did see were hilarious! We’ll be releasing more information on how you can book our PhotoBooth at your wedding or event very soon!

The winner of our raffle prize was Jen Ardill who actually had on display a few of her creations from her Etsy store. I love Etsy people and am very excited we’ll get to work with her in the future at her session.

I totally should have waited to do this post until we had some photos to include but I couldn’t. Just wanted to give a shout out to all the awesome people we met last night and that were a part of the fun.

This husband and wife team will be launching their business, WholeNine, this Sunday and we wanted to help spread the word.

I love shooting inanimate objects. I enjoy styling them, finding good natural light, fun backdrops. Best of all they sit there forever and you can take countless photos! I enjoy it too because it keeps me in practice and helps me to continue to understand my camera and how to play with light.

These pears came from a coworkers tree. She had so many the tree was starting to bend! I begged her to bring me a few so I could make something with them but before I did I had to take a few dozen photos. Here are a few of my favorites.

I love the smell of the icing, the sweetness that draws you in. It’s like you’re inhaling calories. But no matter, it’s wedding cake, it’s all good. One of the many perks of being a wedding photographer is the wedding cake. When I think of all the cake and fancy desserts I’ll get to try this year I am absolutely giddy! Laugh at me if you will but how many pieces of wedding cake will you be eating this year?

James and I recently visited a favorite vendor of ours, Summer Pruett of Stardust Pastry, to take some photos of her ’spring collection’ so to speak. She is incredibly talented at what she does and I am always amazed at the delicacy of her work. It’s breathtaking and beautiful.
